Stress is the number one reason that patients seek acupuncture treatment. It affects almost every system in our bodies and can affect the health of major organs as well as our circulatory systems. Stress can cause weight gain which could lead to limited activity and then to depression. Stress could very well be considered an epidemic as almost 77% of people said they could feel the physical effects of stress on their bodies.
But what can be done about it? We all have stress in or lives right? Even retirement can be stressful! Stress can be treated and managed. One way to help alleviate the tension from life is through acupuncture. By reducing the hormones which cause stress, acupuncture can moderate mood, reduce anxiety and promote overall feelings of happiness.
The science is there. Reuters Health reported on a study from the University of York in the U.K. The study had 755 people with moderate to severe depression. The study concluded that acupuncture and counseling (or both) were effective in reducing depression. The average number when the participants started (on a scale of 27) was 16. When the study finished, the average had fallen to 9 for acupuncture and 11 for counseling. Not only were the effects noticeable, they also lasted up to three months after the conculsion of the study. To read more, please follow this link Acupuncture For Stress And Depression
