Glutathione and Covid

Glutathione might be called the antiviralwarrior in the COVID battle, playing a role, one article reported, in “antioxidant defense, nutrient metabolism, and regulation of cellular events.”  Of key importance, it’s essential to healthy lungs and respiration. One research article suggests its deficiency may increase COVID severity and drive up deaths. Glutathione has been studied as a way to block cytokine storm syndrome and respiratory distress in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. The latest research suggests that glutathione deficiency is the most likely cause of serious manifestations and death in patients with Covid-19. Glutathione is one of the most powerful antioxidants produced in the body, as it protects virtually every tissue.

Glutathione and Covid

Glutathione is a substance made from the amino acids glycine, cysteine, and glutamic acid. It is produced naturally by the liver and involved in many processes in the body, including tissue building and repair, making chemicals and proteins needed in the body, and for the immune system

Sufficient glutathione levels are of paramount importance for virtually every illness, and even aging. It is especially important for fortifying the body’s immune system when it’s being assaulted by a virus. Glutathione is an effective antiviral, anti-inflammatory antioxidant and its benefits for coronavirus patients is promising.

Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic in The Villages offers glutathione injections. Schedule your consultation today to learn more about glutathione injections.

Post COVID Syndrome

Post COVID Syndrome is causing lingering symptoms in some Coronavirus survivors. Here are some things to know:

For many people around the world, COVID-19 does not end after the acute infectioon phase. Doctors are seeing a large amount of survivors develop symptoms that are “strikingly similar” to Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. A CDC survey of 292 people who overcame COVID-19 found that more than a third of the study had lingering fatigue for two to three weeks after testing positive. Fatigue is just one of the symptoms that people have reported over the past several months.

The most common Post COVID Syndrome symptoms that people are reporting even after testing negative for two weeks are:

  • Persistant cough with sore throat
  • Extreme fatigue
  • Post COVID lung disease
  • Anxiety, depression and insomnia
  • Cognitive issues similar to moderate traumatic brain injury
  • Digestive problems such as irritable bowel, nausea, bloating and abdominal pain

So What’s The Good News?

Acupuncture may play a beneficial role in post COVID symptoms!

Post COVID Syndrome

The problem of persistent cough after recovering from Covid is very common. Such patients complain of dry cough, throat irritation and scanty white phlegm. Acupuncture produces 90 per cent effective rate with no side effects.

Patients develop extreme fatigue following a bout of Covid due to depletion of their Qi, because of the decrease in activity of the hypothalamic-pituitary axis. Acupuncture is given at selected acupoints for five days in a week for two weeks and 80 per cent patients have shown improvement in their fatigue levels.

Anxiety, depression and insomnia are very common in post-Covid patients and these can be effectively tackled by stimulating specific acupoints which release melatonin and the happy hormone — serotonin.
