Cranial Facial Release for Hormonal Imbalance

Cranial Facial Release

Your brain is a highly organized structure that regulates all processes of the body. The different parts of the brain are specialized in performing specific tasks. You got the cerebrum storing information and governing the thought process. Similarly, the cerebellum helps you maintain balance while the hypothalamus regulates body temperature.

While most structures have neurological roles, one structure differs from the usual. The pituitary gland is an endocrine gland designated to produce hormones. It isn’t just any endocrine gland but the master of all glands. Therefore, it is known as the “master gland of the body.”

The master gland sits nicely in a depression (sella turcica) of the sphenoid bone. Trauma or injury to the sphenoid bone can lead to grave consequences on the pituitary gland. Research shows that traumatic injury to the head results in pituitary dysfunction. Fixations of the sphenoid bone do not lead to dysfunction but can downregulate the performance of the gland.

Sphenoid Bone Fixations And Pituitary Gland

The sphenoid bone moves with respiratory activity. In the expansion phase, the sphenoid bone arcs forward and downwards, while in the relaxation phase, it returns to normal. Sphenoid (cranial) fixations occur when the bone gets fixed in one place and does not allow rhythmic expansion of the cranium.

Impact on the sphenoid bone leads to performance issues of the pituitary gland. Studies show that almost half of all traumatic brain injury (sphenoid bone trauma) patients suffer from partial or complete pituitary dysfunction. This indicates that fixation of the sphenoid bone can alter pituitary activity.

Hormones Produced By The Pituitary Gland

You can expect to see positive changes in the levels of the following hormones secreted by the pituitary gland:

  • Growth hormone (GH)
  • Thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH)
  • Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)
  • Luteinizing hormone (LH)
  • Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)
  • Prolactin (PRL)
  • Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH)

Several infirmities arise due to imbalances in hormone levels. Female fertility greatly relies on the balance of LH and FSH. The growth of individuals depends on growth hormone and TSH. So, a Cranial Facial Release session can kickstart the pituitary gland and restore normal hormonal levels of the body.

Cranial Facial Release and Orodental Health

Cranial Facial Release and Orodental Health

Oral and dental health is crucial for a healthy body. It is the food you churn and chew that gives you energy for the day. If dental health is compromised, the whole body takes a hit.

One unique thing about the oral region is that there is a variety of different structures packed within a very small space. All the highly specialized structures of the mouth perform extremely detailed activities.

The integral components of mastication, that is, the tongue and the teeth, rely heavily on the overall growth of the orofacial regions. Abruptions and disturbances in the soft and hard tissues of the face, nose, and head translate into dental deformities.

How Cranial Facial Release Can Improve Dental Health?

The main of the Cranial Facial Release technique is to remove the cranial fixations and allow the bones to move in their natural rhythm. The endonasal procedure helps correct and avoid many dental deformities.

Corrects Mouth-Breathing

Mouth breathing is a condition that arises due to breathing obstruction. Patients suffer from air hunger during sleep (due to insufficient patency of the nasal airway passage) and unconsciously breathe through their mouths. The continuously open mouths while sleeping bring about destructive changes in the orodental region. Studies show that mouth breathing is directly linked to the development of malocclusions.

Current strategies for addressing mouth-breathing include myofunctional therapy and jaw modification. The main aim of all is to achieve an “adequate nose.” Endonasal therapies like Cranial Facial Release open up the nasal turbinates and increase the patency of the nasal passage.

The timely introduction of CFR can help prevent the development of dental malocclusions.

Alleviates Sinusitis Symptoms

Chronic sinusitis has far-reaching effects, especially on nearby structures. People suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis are frequently faced with toothache. This type of dental pain can only be treated by draining the sinuses and lowering the rhinitis. CFR effectively improves both conditions and, therefore, helps you get rid of toothache.

Halts Wearing of the Teeth

Temporomandibular joint dysfunction is a disorder directly linked to increased attrition and wearing of the teeth. Pathological tooth wear further causes issues such as hypersensitivity to hot and cold, pain, and increased risk of caries. Addressing the TMJ dysfunction early on using the CFR technique can help prevent future dental complications.

CFR restores the balance and rhythm of the cranial bones. This resetting improves TMJ dysfunction and associated infirmities.

Chiropractic Treatment for Traps Pain

The muscles holding your head can become inflamed and cause a significant amount of discomfort. A very important muscle present in the head and neck region is the trapezius. It stabilizes the shoulder blade and allows elevation, depression, and retraction of the shoulder. Moreover, it also assists in head movements and helps you maintain posture by supporting the upper back (and neck).

Chiropractic Treatment for Traps Pain

Pain in the trapezius muscle is commonly referred to as “traps pain”. Patients suffering from traps experience severe pain between the shoulder blades. According to a study, 59% of patients with neck and shoulder pain suffer from some tenderness in the trapezius muscle, indicating underlying traps pain. The discomfort in the head and neck region can be effectively corrected using chiropractic treatment.

Traps Symptoms

The majority of patients report the following symptoms of traps:

  • Pain and stiffness in neck and shoulder.
  • Tenderness to touch in the upper back and neck region.
  • Difficulty in moving arms.

Traps Causes

Injury: A major cause of traps pain is injury to the muscle. Direct trauma to the neck region can damage the muscle and lead to symptoms.

Overuse: Over-the-head exercises and repeated movements increase your propensity to inflame the trapezius muscle.

Nerve Impingement: The spinal accessory nerve and cervical plexus of nerves innervate the trapezius muscle. Impingement of these nerves can also lead to pain, burning/numbness, etc.

Postural Issues: Poor posture can directly contribute to trapezius stiffness and associated chronic neck pain. Research shows that these musculoskeletal problems are highly prevalent in university students.

How Chiropractic Treatment Can Fix Traps Pain?

As already mentioned, injury and overuse of the muscle can cause it to become tender and painful. The underlying problem with activities like over-the-head exercises and falls with the hand in the out right position is subluxation of the first rib. These activities cause the trap muscle to tighten up and can result in brachial plexus impingement and consequent radiating pain down the arm. Joint-based manual therapy targets the 1st rib and corrects its position, thereby, bringing pain relief.

Chiropractors adopt different types of treatment modalities for traps including ultrasound therapy, myofascial band therapy, activator trigger point therapy, etc. Clinical studies reveal that activator trigger point therapy is the most effective in treating patients with non-specific neck pain and upper trapezius discomfort. However, your chiropractor can best identify the treatment type suited for you!

Chiropractic Care Helps Improve Posture

Chiropractic Care Helps Improve Posture

The humans of the present era are sedentary, thanks to the widespread use of IoT devices, gadgets, smartphones, etc. Nowadays, every person owns a smartphone and wants to get everything done without leaving the comfort of the couch. This lifestyle has led to a high prevalence of bad posture and associated musculoskeletal disorders. As per reports, bad posture (mainly slouching) is highly prevalent globally and leads to issues like:

  • Neck pain
  • Lower back aches
  • Discomfort in the shoulder (right and left).

Chiropractic care is an effective way to cure mankind of this curse without burning the guts. It is a non-invasive procedure that relieves the pressure on your joints and muscles. So, today, we walk you through the benefits of posture correction with chiropractic treatment and how it helps!

How Chiropractic Treatment Corrects Posture?

Chiropractors are trained professionals who quickly identify the cause of your bad posture. Generally, common causes include slouching while using your smartphone or computer. Text neck is another disorder linked to excessive phone usage. By identifying the muscles under strain, your chiropractor will diagnose the underlying problem leading to these consequences.

After a quick diagnosis, a chiropractor can choose from the following treatment modalities as per your needs:

Spinal manipulation: The professional uses hands or specialized devices to deliver controlled forces that correct spinal misalignments.

Chiropractic adjustment: These allow the chiropractor to correct your slouching and forward head translation by realigning the vertebrae.

Spinal decompression: This is used in conditions where posture-induced spinal abnormalities apply pressure on the spinal nerves.

Manual therapy (soft tissue): Soft tissue manual therapy releases trigger points and improves the flexibility of muscles.

Benefits Of Posture Correction With Chiropractic Care?

Chiropractic procedures are non-invasive so they do not require any pharmacological or surgical intervention. You can notice the following advantages of chiropractic posture improvement:

Pain Alleviation: Chiropractic care aids in lowering back pain and improving posture and gait in patients with Parkinson’s disease. According to a study, chiropractic therapy reduces slouchy posture and provides significant relief of neck and back pains.

Increased Mobility And Flexibility: Investigations have revealed that forward bending of the head (while using a smartphone) can lead to a whopping force of 27kg on the neck and back that impairs joint mobility. The majority of patients report evident improvements in joint mobility and overall body flexibility with chiropractic care.

Improved Resistance Against Injuries: By aligning the spine to its natural position, chiropractors release the excess burden on your muscles. This step paired with stretching and strength training makes the body robust and more resistant to injuries.

Cranial Facial Release for Sleep Disturbances

Cranial Facial Release for Sleep Disturbances

Optimal sleep is ultimately necessary for rest and good work performance. Chronic insomnia (sleeplessness) is reported to have a global prevalence of 33% in the adult population, making it a significant medical burden. Sleep deprivation makes things worse by laying the foundation for other chronic and serious disorders.

A new cure aiming to crush sleep deficits is the Cranial Facial Release technique (CFR). The endonasal therapy works in multiple ways to help improve your sleep quality and quantity. This article explains how Cranial Facial Release ameliorates sleep in patients.

How Does Cranial Facial Release Improve Sleep?

Improves CSF Flow

Neuropathologists have highlighted the role of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) in the maintenance of normal brain function and how its stagnation can lead to multiple issues. CSF circulation is a must for the removal of waste products from the brain and the dissemination of growth factors.

Research shows that CSF flow in the brain increases during sleep. Thanks to the researchers at Boston University in Massachusetts, we now know that CSF appears to synchronize with the brain waves and helps remove potentially toxic waste proteins from the brain.

Cranial Facial Release restores the normal movement of the cranial bones, thus allowing better flow of the CSF. This enhanced flow ensures better sleep maintenance and flushing of toxic wastes.

Regulates The Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Adrenal Axis (HPA Axis)

The hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal axis, also known as the HPA axis, is a crucial brain nexus that regulates the production of hormones. It is also responsible for sleep onset, and a direct link between HPA axis dysregulation and sleep disorders has been seen.

Cranial facial release technique has a direct impact on the pituitary gland (and HPA axis). Thus, CRF plays a part in restoring the regulation of the HPA axis.

Reduces Snoring and Sleep Apnea

Sleep apnea is a highly prevalent chronic disorder that leads to sleep deficiency and daytime sleepiness. Patients suffer from sleep hunger at night and gasp for air during sleep. This develops due to the collapse of the airway passages (mainly nasal structures).

Cranial Facial Release introduces air pressure into the nose and increases the patency of the airway passage (by pushing and resetting the nasal bones). Deviated nasal septum and nasal structure issues contribute to sleep apnea. It is similar to inserting a nasopharyngeal tube, which abates snoring and tweaks sleep quality.

With CRF, you can enjoy sleep free of interruption and snoring!

Shockwave Therapy for Iliotibial Band Syndrome

The iliotibial band syndrome most frequently arises in individuals performing repetitive hectic activities. The sharp pain caused by the iliotibial band syndrome can cause significant disruptions in daily life. The iliotibial band is a crucial tendon in the leg and knee region that helps you move. Victims of the IBS include athletes and players like basketball players, runners, soccer players, skiers, cyclers, etc. As it is a disorder of the players, pain means days off from practice and precious time lost. So, most patients want quick and permanent relief.

Every year doctors adopt multiple strategies to cure ITBS. However, in the recent past, there has been a shift toward shockwave therapy to effectively treat iliotibial band syndrome. So, let’s find out how shockwaves can bring down your leg/knee tendon pain and help you return to the practice field with a new energy!

Symptoms of Iliotibial Band Syndrome (ITBS)

Knee pain: The most common complaint of patients with ITBS is knee pain. Athletes encounter severe pain after exercise/working out. A lot of runners report lateral knee pain due to ITBS which aggravates on running downhill. Some patients experience exacerbation of symptoms while exercising while others feel aches during rest.

Hip pain: Iliotibial band friction is recognized as a cause of lateral hip pain in athletic adults. This symptom may be accompanied by other manifestations.

Snapping/clicking sounds: A number of patients are concerned about the loud clicking sounds in their hip/knee heard during movement.

Patients also experience redness and warmth on the skin overlying the iliotibial band. Prolonged, untreated ITBS may even lead to muscle weakness and gait changes.

Shockwave Therapy for Iliotibial Band Syndrome

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) aka shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment modality administered to heal soft tissues like tendons, ligaments, muscles, etc. There are two types of ESWT:

  • Focal
  • Radial

The introduction of high-energy shockwaves into the affected site has gained wide popularity in the recent past. Modern studies conclude that conservative treatment options like shockwaves and rest/ice can lower the symptoms of ITBS. This method of healing brings positive changes in the following ways:

Reduces Inflammation

Extracorporeal shockwaves improve the blood supply of the affected region. This helps reduce inflammation in tendinopathies like ITBS. The reduction of inflammation brings down pain and aids in promoting recovery.

Alleviates Pain

This therapy reduces inflammation and pain signals which ultimately leads to alleviation of hip and knee pain. According to a 2024 study, extracorporeal shockwave therapy and strengthening exercises mitigate pain and significantly enhance function.

Kickstarts Natural Healing

The greatest therapeutic benefit of shockwaves in ITBS is the promotion of natural healing. Shockwave therapy lays the foundation of tissue repair by assisting cell proliferation and collagen formation. Therefore, it is regarded as an effective regenerative medicine technique (especially in sports medicine).

Strengthens The Tendon

Studies show that, in addition to inflammation/pain reduction, it plays a part in neovascularization which is the process of forming new blood vessels. This allows the tendons to become stronger and more resistant to damage.

Shockwave Therapy for Iliotibial Band Syndrome At The Legacy Clinic

The Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic offers shockwave therapy for iliotibial band syndrome. The professionals at the facility very carefully apply shockwaves to flush out pain and inflammation from your tendon making your tendon “as good as new”. Chiropractic Treatment in The Villages: Testimony from A Dragon Boater

Chiropractic Treatment in The Villages

For years, the Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic has been providing relief to distressed patients of the Villages. At the facility, we strive to provide comfort to the patients by adopting all the means possible. Over the years, we have seen various types of patients. However, the greatest satisfaction is achieved when skeptic patients are satisfied with the treatment outcomes. One such patient who not only accepts our treatment type but also recommends it to others is Kathryn. Her experience at the Legacy clinic is a testimony to the high-quality services and the bravura of Dr.John Theeck!

Kathryn: A Dragon Boater with Shoulder and Back Pain

Dragon boating is a water sport that requires a team of participants to propel the boat using single-blade paddles. The nature of the sport requires players to train their upper bodies, especially the arms. Thus, overuse injuries are common in dragon boat players.

Kathryn is an enthusiastic dragon boater who started feeling discomfort in her left shoulder. Later, she started noticing that she was unable to sleep on the left side due to excruciating pain. However, she passed it off thinking it was an overuse injury (that had caused a rotator cuff injury), and waited for the symptoms to go away with time (and rest). But, things didn’t go as she expected and soon Kathryn was losing flexibility. She was unable to touch her toes on the left side (which alarmed her!). Moreover, the pain now also popped up on the right side of the body too. A significant ache in the rib cage and the right hip bone interfered with her daily activities.

Plagued with pain, Kathryn went for conventional medicinal therapy for some time. She was hesitant to try out chiropractic therapy as she was skeptical of the treatment’s safety and prognosis. On her visit to a licensed massage therapist, it was pointed out to her that her body was out of alignment.

So, though skeptical, she made an appointment with Dr.John Theeck at the suggestion of a friend. Here is how she felt during her treatment.

Appointment With Dr.John Theeck

According to Kathryn the staff at the facility was very friendly and welcoming. The nurse took a thorough history of her pain and disability.

Then Dr.John Theeck came into the room. The specialist looked professional and listened to every detail she provided. “I was impressed by the amount of time he gave to me and how calmly he listened to my problems”, she added. Dr.John accurately understood her symptoms.

What impressed Kathryn the most was that Dr.John immediately noticed her nervousness and anxiousness about the chiropractic adjustments. Therefore, the good doctor made her comfortable by dealing with her with utmost compassion and care. This ultimately led her to feel more confident and relaxed about the treatment.

Very professionally, Dr.John started chiropractic adjustments of Kathryn”s of the back. And straight away she could feel the body fixing. Then, as Dr.John fixed her neck, a loud noise cracking sound startled her. But, as soon as she rose from the table there was no discomfort in her back or in her shoulder!

Due to Dr.John’s compassionate treatment and guidance, the chiropractic session was relaxing and comforting.

After The Adjustments

The treatment changed her life! She can now sleep on her side pain-free and she has successfully regained her lost flexibility.

She returned to the clinic after a week for a follow-up checkup.

Unlike common money-making chiropractors, Dr.John didn’t force her into another session because her body maintained alignment well. This honest approach of Dr.John further impressed her. Now, she advises all people with pain/discomfort to visit Dr.John.

Kathryn’s Advice To Others

Kathryn exclaimed and we quote:

“Dr.John Theeck was awesome! I highly recommend him for his excellent communication skills. He is patient, kind, respectful, and inspired me with confidence, demonstrating understanding and compassion”.

So, if you have a pain that is keeping you from doing your favorite activities, please visit the Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic ASAP!

Importance Of Foot levelers Brand Orthotics

Orthotics

What Are Orthotics?

Orthotics are special devices patients wear to improve posture and attain relief from injuries and chronic disorders. Chiropractors across the globe use orthotics to help patients improve their quality of life. You can get over-the-counter orthotics or customized orthotics to fit your foot exactly. They are used for different conditions.

Uses Of Orthotics

The versatile treatment approach is being used in numerous conditions. However, we are discussing only a few. Your chiropractor or podiatrist will recommend you orthotics for any of the following conditions:

Plantar fasciitis: Foot pain conditions like tendonitis and plantar fasciitis can be managed well with orthotics. Studies show that custom and prefabricated orthotics reduce pain and improve function in adult plantar fasciitis patients.

Low back pain: Several times, chiropractors recommend foot/shoe orthotics to chronic low back pain patients. The aim of this aid is to restore normal posture and take off the excessive pressure on the back muscles. Jerrilyn et al. found out that six weeks of prescription shoes only significantly alleviates pain and reduces dysfunction.

Arthritis: Orthotic interventions have proven to improve pain, foot function, and balance in arthritis patients (especially rheumatoid arthritis).

Foot injuries and pain: Your chiropractor may use orthotics as an adjunctive therapy to speed up healing. Foot and ankle injuries take time to heal due to being a load-bearing area. Moreover, with compromised foot health, there are greater chances of further injuries. Custom-designed orthotics stabilize the pedal structures and help you recover while minimizing pain. Thus, these foot aids are great for traumatic foot injuries and pain.

Diabetes: Diabetic foot is a challenging condition that usually leads to amputation. Therefore, doctors try their best to prevent foot ulcers in diabetes patients. Initiation of the condition leads to reduced mobility which worsens the condition. However, research shows that the use of ankle-foot orthosis can evidently reduce the pressure on the affected foot and improve the condition.

Benefits Of Custom Orthotics

There are multiple ways in which custom orthotics can relieve pain, help you recover, and improve your overall quality of life. Numerous studies prefer customized orthotics over over-the-counter products.

Improved Posture

Customized orthotics (corrective insoles) have shown promising results in correcting lower extremity alignment in farmers with pronated feet. This reduces excessive load on muscles and helps your dexterity.

Pain Relief

Plantar pain can be debilitating. A 2022 study highlighted the importance of novel foot orthoses in plantar fasciitis patients. Custom orthosis made using 3D scanning has shown up to 65% reduction in plantar pressure. Orthotics can also be used to lower pain in patients with Morton neuroma and Achilles tendinopathy, etc.

Stable Gait

A faulty gait can lay the foundation for many problems. Perfectly designed orthotics can improve your foot progression angle and lead to an overall improved gait. Orthopedic and neurological patients highly appreciate the gait stability.

Joint Protection And Preventive Care

Older adults who have suffered foot injuries are prone to more of them. Shoe-insole orthotics are frequently used to improve foot safety. Insole orthotics effectively improve ankle joint mechanics and are aptly used for injury prevention in older adults.

Moreover, athletes (especially runners) can get better athletic performance and lower chances of injury.

Custom-Made Orthotics By Foot Levelers

Foot Levelers is a leading brand in the world of orthotics that is offering custom foot orthotics. One of the features that sets Foot Levelers apart is the use of high-quality, state-of-the-art 3D body scanning which provides accurate results and best-suited products. You can get the best variety of orthotics on Foot Levelers. But you can not just put on a sole without proper guidance. So, for expert guidance for your specific condition visit the Legacy Clinic of Chiropractic!

Conclusion

Custom orthotics are specialized foot aids that speed up recovery, reduce pain, and improve gait and overall function. Chiropractors advise orthotics for several conditions including plantar fasciitis, diabetes, injuries, Morton neuroma, etc. The best in-town orthotics are from Foot levelers who use 3D body scanning.

Regenerative Therapy in The Villages

Regenerative medicine or therapy is an advanced field of healthcare that aims to heal by promoting natural regeneration within the body. Instead of pumping drugs into the body, regenerative therapists provide you with a means of healing itself. Once an unexplored territory, regenerative therapy has now become an effective way of managing numerous conditions with minimal invasion and side effects. Thus, today’s article discusses the benefits and the prevalent types of regenerative medicine.

Benefits of Regenerative Therapy

There are numerous benefits of opting for regenerative therapy over conventional medicine. Some of the highly liked features (by patients) are discussed below:

Faster Healing: Plenty of conditions require quick recovery for better outcomes. Unlike conventional methods, regenerative mechanisms like stem cells and PRP therapy evidently boost the body’s healing potential. This leads to faster recovery and lesser healing times. Therefore, the use of regenerative platelets has significantly increased in recent times.

Inflammation and Pain Alleviation: The reduction of pain and inflammation with regenerative medicine is also commendable. Present-day studies show that the use of regenerative therapies like PRP injections for chronic spine-related pain can have many positive impacts. When employed in sports injury cases, this particular therapy passes with flying colors. Repeated use of such components can even improve pain/inflammation in chronic knee osteoarthritis patients.

No Need to Burn Your Gut: By cutting down the inflammation and pain in your body, regenerative medicine helps reduce your dependence on drugs. Many patients report abstaining from taking painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications after a successful session of regenerative therapy. Thus, you can save your gut from further damage by adopting it.

Long-Lasting Results: Unlike conventional treatment options, the use of this therapy is linked to long-lasting results (especially in conditions that tend to recur often). Chronic low back pain patients are faced with the dilemma of recurring pain after treatment. However, a systematic review reveals that several cell-based therapies (using mesenchymal stem cells and PRP) for discogenic pain provide long-term relief.

Reduced Risk of Side Effects: As there is minimal exposure to systemic medications in this method, patients are at a lower risk of side effects. Many believe that the risk of infection with regenerative medicine is also very low.

Types of Regenerative Therapy

Commonly used modes of regenerative therapy include:

Stem-Cell Therapy: The most famous type of regenerative therapy is stem cell therapy which is being used in a range of health conditions. A large number of healthcare professionals use it to treat back pain and spinal disc issues. According to studies, mesenchymal stem cells (extracted from the patient) have shown immense healing potential in discogenic low back pain. Intra-articular injections of mesenchymal cells not only reduce pain but also help repair/regenerate affected tissues.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP): In PRP therapy, the therapist extracts platelets from your blood and injects them into the affected site. Loaded with growth factors, the PRP solution kickstarts healing and manages pain/inflammation well. When given to knee osteoarthritis patients, PRP significantly improves stiffness, pain and disability. It also works reliably for various types of chronic pain conditions.

Shockwave Therapy: The introduction of controlled electric waves within the body has shown to promote natural healing. Thus, it also falls under the umbrella of regenerative medicine. There have been accounts where shockwave therapy has worked impressively for shoulder issues, tendinitis, chronic pain disorders and even erectile dysfunction. Thus, shockwave therapy is another remarkable way of regenerating healthy cells within the body.
