Spinal Decompression Therapy

What is spinal decompression?

Surgery is not the only option to treat back pain, spinal decompression is a non-surgical treatment that helps to reduce back pain. During spinal decompression, your spine can be slightly stretched which can help change the position of the spine. This process is effective for herniated and bulging disks because it can create negative pressure. Therefore, it helps promote the water content, oxygen, and other fluid to the discs, which can initiate the healing process.

What are the reasons you may need spinal decompression treatment?

Spinal decompression treatments are effective if you have the following problems.

  1. If you have herniated disks or bulging disks.
  2. Sciatica is a condition in which the sciatic nerve may damage and the pain travels down the leg. So, spinal decompression treatment plays an important role to treat sciatica.
  3. Spinal stenosis is the narrowing of spaces between the spinal cord. The main reason for spinal stenosis is bone spurs.
  4. Another condition is the degenerative disk in which the spinal breakdown is started which leads to spinal pain.

How is spinal decompression done?

In spinal decompression treatment, your clothes cannot be removed. You need to lie on a computer-controlled table. The doctor can control the computer according to the specific treatment you need. In this treatment, you will connect to the machine that stretches your spine. Therefore, it relieves the pressure on the spinal discs. The level of tension can be regulated with the help of a machine.

You should need to remain on the system for 30 to 45 minutes for at least two weeks. After 2 weeks, you need to get spinal decompression treatment three times for two weeks and then two times for the last two weeks.

Before and after the spinal decompression treatment, you may get other treatments for better results that includes:

  • Electrical stimulation
  • Heat or cold therapy
  • Ultrasound

How long does it take to get the expected results?

Typically, the patient can see the expected results within 10 to 18 treatments. You may experience that this treatment is gentle, painless, and relieving. Results may vary from patient to patient, some patients experience immediate relief during the treatment. Generally, patients may feel improvement after a few sessions.

Who should not have spinal decompression?

It is important to ask your doctor whether you are a good candidate for spinal decompression treatment or not. You should avoid spinal decompression if you have the following conditions:

  • Spinal Fracture: If you have a spinal fracture then it is not a good option to choose spinal decompression.
  • Pregnancy: If you are pregnant, you should avoid spinal decompression treatment.
  • Spine tumor: During a spinal tumor, it is best to avoid spinal decompression.
  • Osteoporosis: If your bones are weak and you are diagnosed with osteoporosis, then you should not get this treatment.

Benefits of spinal decompression treatment:

The discs between your vertebrae can herniate, bulge, or degenerate which causes chronic pain in the back. This back pain goes down in your legs. In these conditions, spinal decompression is beneficial in relieving the pain. For this purpose, you should consult your doctor. In the beginning, the doctor can do the test to evaluate how the patient’s response during spinal decompression. Usually, lower back pain and degenerative disc disease can treat effectively with the help of spinal decompression.

What makes spinal decompression therapy differ from other kinds of traction?

In manual traction, the body tends to refer the pulling in the opposite direction. Spinal decompression has a feature that prevents your body from doing this. When you get this treatment, the doctor will adjust the settings of the machine to provide optimal results. To overcome these tendencies, spinal decompression therapy is a more effective therapy than manual traction.

Is there any risk of spinal decompression therapy?

There is no risk of spinal decompression therapy. The procedure is safe and effective for all patients. The machine has emergency stop switches for both patients as well as doctors, so you can use them to avoid any kind of injury.

Do patients with spinal surgery receive spinal decompression therapy?

Yes, the patient with spinal surgery can receive spinal decompression. This treatment is proven to be effective in patients that have failed back surgery.

How Chiropractic Adjustments Help Sacroiliac Pain?

The sacroiliac joint is a major shock absorber joint present in your spine. This very joint connects three bones together i.e. iliac crest (hip bones), sacrum (bone present between the lumbar spine and tail bone), and the tailbone (also known as the coccyx). A strong network of soft tissues and muscles also make up the joint.

Dysfunction of the joint can lead to the development of sacroiliac joint pain which in most cases, is sharp and stabbing in nature. A vast majority of patients report severe pain that radiates from the back down to the thighs or even to the pelvis. The prevalence of SI pain was found to be around 25% while around 15% to 25% of all back pain patients have an underlying SI dysfunction too.

Managing sacroiliac pain with medicines is a futile effort that results in nothing. However, a chiropractic adjustment is a ray of light for patients in agony.

Benefits Of Chiropractic Adjustments

Manual manipulation or chiropractic adjustments can do wonders for a patient down with SI pain. The touch of a chiropractor can have a number of therapeutic benefits including:

1.     Pain Relief For Long Term

The pain from sacroiliac dysfunction can persist for long periods of time, seriously reducing the quality of life. The good news is that chiropractic adjustments can alleviate this persistent pain and provide long-term relief. As per a 2021 study, a chiropractic adjustment is pretty effective in lowering pain from SI dysfunction in the long term, and adding specific exercises to your daily routine further enhances the results.

2.   Reduction In Disability

Sacroiliac pain due to joint dysfunction is accompanied by reduced range of motion and increased muscle tension. By applying the appropriate pressure, a chiropractor restores the normal range of motion and reduces joint fixation. This maneuver increases mobility and you can say goodbye to disability!

Significant improvements in pain and disability scores were noted by participants of a study following a 24-week manipulation. As per a systematic review, chiropractic adjustments and massage therapies are significantly effective in lowering the pain and disability of SI pain patients.

3.   No More Pain-Killer Drugs Needed

When the pain nose-dives, there is a consequent lessened need for pain-killer drugs. Sacroiliac pain patients can lead a better life that is free of NSAID-induced gastric irritations if they opt for chiropractic treatment.

Where Can I Get The Best Chiropractic Adjustment For Sacroiliac Pain?

You can book an appointment with Legacy Health Clinic, and say bye-bye to your sacroiliac pain.

Prolozone Regenerative medicine

Dr. Frank Shallenberger, MD, of the Nevada Center for Alternative & Antiaging Medicine, has been providing Ozone Therapy to his patients in clinical practice for over 30 years and has taught practitioners in North America and around the world how to utilize ozone for over 25 years. His impact in this area of medical science is revolutionary and he has the vast experience to have earned the title of “Godfather of Ozone” in North America.  Dr. Shallenberger created a new branch of ozone therapy known as Prolozone® since he was not satisfied with using ozone alone in the conventional techniques that have been in use for 100 years.

An oxygen/homeopathic injection approach called Prolozone Therapy® has been demonstrated to heal degenerative joints, herniated discs, and injured tendons and soft tissues. It works well for many types of musculoskeletal and joint pain, including degenerative discs, shoulder and elbow discomfort, rotator cuff injuries, degenerative and arthritic hips and knees, and chronic neck and back pain.

The Latin word “proli,” which means to rebuild or renew, and the word “ozone” are the roots of the term “prolozoneTM.” The most energetically active form of oxygen in the cosmos is ozone. In order to encourage the regeneration of injured tissues, joints, ligaments, and tendons, Prolozone Therapy® employs the power of oxygen. Because Prolozone Therapy® works on a cellular level and corrects the pathology of the disorder, the chronic pain sufferer can become permanently pain-free or significantly better.

HOW DOES Prolozone Therapy® WORK? Circulation plays a role in why some wounds fully recover while others do not. The vital substances that only blood can deliver—vitamins, minerals, and oxygen—must reach a damaged portion of the body for it to regenerate and mend. The most significant of them is oxygen. Lactic acid builds up due to low oxygen levels, which is what causes discomfort.

About Dr. Aaron Perry at Legacy Clinic in The Villages

At Legacy Clinic, Dr. Aaron Perry practices Oriental medicine. He is a skilled, licensed, and compassionate acupuncture physician serving The Villages Florida for over 18 years. Dr. Perry is a graduate of the prestigious Florida College of Integrated Medicine and has completed several postgraduate courses to help provide top-notch acupuncture in The Villages. Dr. Perry is a pioneer in the area of Chinese medicine and educated by some of the best integrative physicians in the world. Dr. Perry has achieved impressive results with injuries and psychological disorders, as well as sports injury and pain conditions.  Dr. Perry is also trained and certified to provide Dr. Shallenberger’s Prolozone Therapy injections and has given over 600 injections while at Legacy Clinic.

Dr. Perry’s Prolozone Therapy consists of two phases. The first involves injecting a solution of liquid vitamins, minerals, and homeopathic remedies into the wounded region to supply the correct nutrients (i.e., vertebra, ligament, tendon, muscle, connective tissue, joint space, etc.). This improves circulation and helps to break down the inflammation, which in turn reduces swelling. And lastly, oxygen in the form of ozone is introduced to the region. A medical-grade longevity ozone generator produces a certain concentration based on the problem. The ozone gas will begin to function over the next several days by oxidizing the injection site, increasing red blood cell synthesis, and improving oxygen intake. This will cause an increase in cellular and healing activity at the injection site, which will reduce pain.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS Prolozone Therapy® THE SAME AS PROLOTHERAPY?

No. Oxygen is used in Prolozone Therapy® to create healing. Inflammation is the catalyst for healing in prolotherapy. Previously, Dr. Shallenberger used prolotherapy. Despite the fact that he discovered it to be often helpful, it featured the following drawbacks. It hurts a lot during prolotherapy. Following treatment, pain often lasts for days to weeks. Prolozone Therapy® patients experience little to no discomfort during treatments and see an instant improvement. The second difference is that Prolozone Therapy® only needs a few injections, while Prolotherapy takes numerous. This implies that Prolozone Therapy® is both quicker and much less costly. The cartilage in injured knees and hips may be repaired most effectively using Prolozone therapy®. Prolotherapy often is unable to do this.

How many operations or injections are necessary? That actually depends on how severe the damage was and how the patient’s body reacts to the therapy. One injection may be beneficial, but many injections may be necessary, as well. Three to seven days pass before there is a noticeable reduction in discomfort. The response to therapy varies from person to person, but the majority only need three to five sessions.

ADDITIONAL TESTIMONIALS & 5-STAR REVIEWS:

M. Miller – “I want to share a wonderful experience I had at the Legacy Clinic in The Villages. About seventeen surgeries and countless injections from VA and private practitioners have been performed on me. I have had one knee replaced twice, at 53 years young, and the VA was getting ready to replace the other. I saw Dr. Aaron Perry at the Legacy Clinic and received an Ozone treatment on my knee that the VA wanted to replace. Hand to God, I can move this leg without pain like I have not been able to for over a decade. Better than any operation, like my knee joint, had a lube job done and it is GREAT. I hardly ever recommend anything or anyone, but I will recommend Dr. Perry to anyone having joint pains. He has literally changed my life and I can’t thank him enough.”

M. Hogan: “I need hip replacement surgery because I have severe osteoarthritis in my right hip and moderate to severe arthritis in my left hip. I recently had Cortisone injections into my right hip but decided to try the Ozone injections into my left hip to preserve what tissue I have left.

Since my Ozone injections into my left hip, I can play Pickleball much more than before, I have more movement ability on the courts, and I feel no pain while playing! Before Ozone, I did not sleep well at night because my hips would ache so bad. Now I sleep better and feel no pain from inflammation. My right hip still bothers me after the Cortisone shot so I am looking forward to seeing  Dr. Perry again for Ozone treatments! The procedure is painless, easy, and Dr. Perry always follows up with his patients to check up on how they are feeling, etc. Before opting for surgery, I am willing to try everything I can first, and suggest you give Ozone therapy a try as well!”
